Plagiarism Checker

AssignmentOS automatically compares all submissions for an assignment against each other, and flags any suspicious similarities. We use an in-house, commercial edition of the MOSS (Measure of Software Similarity) Plagiarism Checker, an automated system developed at Stanford University to detect similarities between students’ programming assignments.

Workflow:

Once the deadline for an assignment has passed, AssignmentOS run all student submissions through the plagiarism checker. If we find any suspicious similarities, we send you an email which contains a link to report on Assignment. The report provides a side-by-side comparison between each pair of submissions where we have found enough similarities to warrant further investigation:

While our plagiarism checker automatically detects program similarity, it is still up to a Lecturer or TA to look at the parts of the code that we highlight and make a decision about whether there is plagiarism or not.
